E-cigarettes are yet another example of a technological innovation changing the way people live. One thing that technology hasn’t changed, however, is that tools need cleaning. And that includes your trusty vaping device. This is a little information on why and how to clean e-cigarettes.

Why E-Cigarettes Need Cleaning

No matter how careful you are, your e-cigarette is going to need cleaning at some point. Dust and pocket lint will get the device dirty. Grime and gunk will build up. If you use it a lot and never, ever clean it, your e-cigarette can even begin to have microorganisms growing inside it.

How to Clean Your E-Cigarette

Thankfully, cleaning an e-cigarette is easy. Here’s a simple step by step guide.

  1. Get your supplies ready. At the minimum, you’ll need absorbent paper towels and either cotton swabs or pipe cleaners. If your e-liquid has left residue on your e-cigarette, or if you just want to give an extra thorough cleaning, also grab some rubbing alcohol.
  1. Disassemble your e-cigarette. Before doing this, make sure that your atomizer is dry or your tank is empty. Once you’re sure, remove the atomizer or tank and take it apart. If your e-cigarette has a removable battery, then remove the battery as well.
  1. Wipe the body of your e-cigarette with the paper towels. This will get rid of dust and e-liquid residue. If necessary, fold a paper towel and push it into the atomizer threading near the top of the e-cigarette to get at hard to reach debris.
  1. Clean the inside of your e-cigarette. Use a dry paper towel to wipe away any moisture. You can also clean the battery terminals with a cotton swab dipped in rubbing alcohol. Make sure it dries before using your e-cigarette again.
  1. Clean the attachment. Cleaning the e-cigarette is important, but so is cleaning the atomizer or tank. Wash all components of your atomizer or tank. You’ll probably need to use cotton swabs to do so thoroughly, especially at the drip tip, chimney, or base. Dry everything completely. Failing to dry something could cause a short and ruin your e-cigarette.
